I just finished the second chapter of Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. So far its about a boy named Jacob who was always told stories from his grandfather. His grandfather told him of all these children that had these special gifts and he would show him pictures. Jacob always believed these stories as a young child but as he got older he began to believe in them less and less. Now he's 15 and he works at his parents store and he hates it. One day he recieves a call from his grandfather asking for the key to his cabinet full of weapons. Jacob trys to calm him down and has to tell him he doesn't know where the key is. His grandfather continuously says the monsters are coming for him and he needs the key. Jacob asks if he had taken his medicine but his grandfather refuses to answer. After getting off the phone Jacob is told to get check on his grandfather by his dad. When Jacob gets there is grandfather is no where to be found. His house is trashed and the screen door is torn. Jacob goes out in the woods to look for him and finds him drowning in his own blood. His last words to Jacob are talking about a letter, a loop, and Emerson. Jacob has no idea what this means. After his grandfather dies Jacob shines his flashlight into the woods and sees one of the creatures his grandfather had always told him about; a man with tentacles coming out of his mouth. Of course no one believes Jacob and he's now suffering from horrible nightmares and paranoia so he's sent to a psychiatrist. On his 16th birthday his mom throws him a suprise party with all his relatives he hardly speaks to. one of his presents is from his aunt. She gave him a book that his grandfather had writen Jacob on it. Inside was a letter from a Miss Peregrine's to his grandfather. Jacob decides he needs to go the island where this letter was from and find out what his grandfather was trying to tell him.
